Health and Safety Policies

Effective date: July 2024

In Person Class Capacity

To make sure kids have enough space, class sizes are limited to 9 students.

Drop Off

Families may wait in our home for classes to begin or during classes. An adult will be there to greet them. Supervision before and after class time is provided by parents.

Handwashing

I will wash my hands frequently throughout the class. Students will wash hands or use hand sanitizer upon entering the building, before starting class. Hand sanitizer is available in multiple areas of the classroom.

Illness

Anyone (instructors, students, and parents) exhibiting symptoms of illness such as coughing or fever should not come to Storygalorey. (See make up policies)

Masks

Mask wearing is now optional for children and instructors while inside.

Fresh air

We may have the window open inside whenever possible.  Please dress accordingly.

Use of Supplies

Students will be assigned their own art supplies (provided) when possible. Shared supplies will be cleaned between classes.

Seating

Chairs and tables will be wiped with disinfectant between classes. Whenever possible, children will be seated next to a family member.

Air Cleaners

We have two air cleaner systems in our art room as well as an open window, ceiling fan, and UV air cleaner circulating air throughout the house.

Dismissal

At the end of class, parents may wait outside beside or in their vehicles so I can see the student gets out to them safely. Parents are also welcome to come in to pick up their students. Please do not come in if you are not feeling well.

Make Up Class Policy

Time for art is important! Sometimes things come up or someone gets sick and you have to miss class.  I will do my best to get your student the creative time that he or she needsIf a child has to miss a class, contact me at [email protected] and we can make up the class through:

  • extra instruction time
  • a video
  • a credit toward a future Storygalorey class
  • a credit toward Drawing For Kids online course or Art Club.

If I am the one who is sick, I will provide make up classes through video at the soonest availability.

Weather Cancellations

Because we are located in a rural area, we realize sometimes the roads don't get cleared. We don't want anyone to take unnecessary risks coming out to class in the event of bad weather. Our policy is to align with the school corporation's decision about holding class when the weather is iffy. If they cancel, so do we.

Covid-19 and its variations have kept us all a little confused. One thing we can all agree on is that we want to keep kids safe and families healthy. These policies reflect the advice of medical professionals in the area as well as current local school policies for kids in our community.
